GST simplification will do good for sellers and buyers, said Samir Kumar, Country Manager, Amazon India on Monday (September 8, 2025). He also said that Amazon Now, their quick-commerce arm, is live in Delhi and will be expanded to other cities.

Amazon said it is updating its systems with the revised GST codes for sellers to move to the new tax structure and be able to pass on the benefits to customers in accordance with government regulations.

The online marketplace revealed that their 11th Great Indian Festival 2025 will start from September 23 for general buyers while a day ahead for Prime members.

Amazon said it has over 17 lakh sellers on its platform and around 2,000 last mile delivery stations across the country. Amazon recently expanded with 12 new fulfillment centers and 6 new sorting centers. It also said that it has created over 1,50,000 seasonal work opportunities pan-India.

Amazon told it has reduced its referral fees for sellers across fast-moving categories including fashion, beauty, home appliances and healthcare, introduced several seller-first initiatives including AI-powered tools (Samriddhi Dashboard) that offers comprehensive yearly performance metrics, product-level inventory recommendations, and strategic planning tools, an all-in-one intuitive interface.

On AI enhancing customers experience, Kishore Thota, Director, Shopping Experience, Amazon India to The Hindu, “AI is pivotal in various aspects, from basic algorithms to advanced personalisation.” Personalisation, driven by AI, enhances user experience, making algorithms more relevant. AI facilitates product discovery by understanding user needs and providing tailored recommendations.

Amazon’s AI tools like Rufus and Lens are enhancing product discovery and visual search capabilities. AI facilitates conversation summarisation and provides helpful suggestions to guide user interactions.

“AI is being used extensively, from personalisation to fulfillment, benefiting both customers and sellers,” said Mr. Thota. It is accessible to all sellers, providing a level playing field and promoting broader ecosystem benefits.

Mr. Thota said that AI-powered tools simplify product listing, saving sellers time and money. “AI is also assisting sellers in generating images and enhancing product visuals for better presentation.”

AI is continually evolving, with agents capable of autonomous actions to simplify the shopping experience, he added.
