Nothing on Friday (November 21, 2025) started rolling out Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16 to its Indian users. The London-based consumer technology brand said that their operating skin is more refined, connected, and intelligent for AI-driven creation tools via Essential Apps.

Nothing’s new OS 4.0 will arrive to Phone 3 users first and later to other Nothing and CMF devices. For Phone 3 users, it brings new features like a deeper Flip to Glyph controls, refined Pocket Mode and new Glyph Toys such as Hourglass and Lunar Cycle. Glyph Mirror Selfie now allows users to save the original photo as an extra photo in the Gallery.

The NOS 4.0 will bring features live updates via Glyph interface that claims to deliver real-time ride, delivery, and timer information directly to phone’s screen and the Glyph Interface. “The apps that supports Android 16’s live updates feature will now start supporting Nothing’s Glyph Progress feature.”

It will also bring a refined extra dark mode, now extends to first-party apps like Essential Space and Launcher, with wider integration to follow.

Nothing OS 4.0 enhances how the system feels in motion. Every touch, swipe, and gesture now responds with more depth and tactility. When adjusting the volume, subtle haptic feedback now appears at the maximum and minimum points. It gives you an immediate, physical response, even when you are not looking at the screen.

The home screen background gently scales in or out, creating depth.

Now with Nothing OS 4.0, users can have a new 1×1 and 2×1 layouts for Weather, Pedometer and Screen Time. They can now open two floating apps at once and switch between them with simple gestures. Swipe up from the bottom to minimise or pull down to expand to full screen. Users can also hide any app from App Drawer, with access just a swipe away.

Essential Apps live inside the new Widget Drawer, introduced with Nothing OS 4.0, brings everything into one organised view.
