Design & Comfort
Shokz has built its name around bone-conduction audio, and with the OpenRun Pro 2 they’re pushing things forward with a hybrid approach: bone conduction for the highs, and a floating dynamic driver for the low end. The result is an open-ear headset that feels featherlight, stays in place, and still keeps you connected to your surroundings, exactly what runners, cyclists, and outdoor athletes want.
We’ve worn these for hours while shooting reels and doing calls, and the comfort genuinely stands out. The silicone finish and flexible frame never press into your face, and there’s no fatigue even after long sessions. You can get them in Standard and Mini sizes, which helps with fit, though the rear band still hangs a bit depending on head shape.
IP55 rating means sweat and dust won’t bother them, and the overall build has that technical-sporty Shokz look. If you like minimal, practical gear, these sit right in that zone.
Performance & Daily Use
Pairing is instant, the Bluetooth 5.3 connection holds strong across rooms, and the physical controls are simple once you get used to them. Volume buttons are on the right arm, and the left side has the multi-function button for playback, calls and voice assistant.Battery life is solid up to 12 hours on paper, but in real-world use (high volume + calls + outdoor sessions), expect closer to 8–10 hours. Quick charging through USB-C is convenient, especially if you forget to top up before a run.The Shokz app adds multipoint pairing and EQ options with four presets and two custom slots. It’s basic, but it covers the essentials.
Sound Quality
Let’s be clear these aren’t meant to replace your closed-back headphones or in-ear monitors for music enjoyment. What Shokz has done instead is create one of the best-balanced open-ear experiences you can buy today.
The low end gets a boost thanks to the dynamic driver, and the mids feel cohesive without the “tickle” older bone-conduction models had. Highs are present but not ultra-detailed. You’ll often push the volume higher than usual to get enough weight.
Outdoors, in traffic or noisy conditions, the limitations of an open design show up especially during calls. The AI noise reduction helps, but wind can still cut through.
Bottom line: for workouts and outdoor runs, the sound is more than good enough. For immersive music listening, you’ll want something else.
Verdict
The Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 is built for athletes and creators who need comfort, awareness and reliability over pure audio performance. For a month, we’ve used these through daily shoots, long edits, and outdoor workouts and they’ve become a part of our routine simply because of how easy and comfortable they are to live with.
If you want open-ear headphones that prioritise safety, fit and all-day comfort while still offering much better sound than traditional bone-conduction sets, this is easily one of the best options in the market right now.
