Buying a new iPhone in India usually means paying a premium price, and many buyers often wait months for good deals to appear. That is why whenever older iPhone models start getting price cuts, the offers quickly attract attention. A similar situation is now happening with the Apple iPhone 16 series, where both the standard model and the larger Apple iPhone 16 Plus are being sold at much lower prices than their original launch rates.

Several retail platforms and offline chains are currently offering discounts on these models. Stores such as Vijay Sales, Reliance Digital, and other retailers are running price cuts and bank offers that bring the effective price down by a large margin. For many people who were waiting to upgrade to a newer iPhone, this could be the moment they had been hoping for.

iPhone 16 Plus deal brings price down

The Apple iPhone 16 Plus originally launched in India with a starting price of ₹89,900. However, the phone is currently listed at around ₹71,890 on Vijay Sales, which means the device is already available at a discount of over ₹18,000 compared to the launch price.

On top of this reduction, buyers can also use certain bank offers to bring the price down further. Some HDFC Bank credit card EMI transactions offer an extra discount of up to ₹3,500, while ICICI Bank credit card EMI users may get around ₹3,000 off. After applying these offers, the effective price of the device can come close to about ₹68,000 depending on the payment option.

Some listings have also shown even steeper temporary cuts, where the device has been spotted for around ₹66,990. This essentially means the total reduction could reach nearly ₹22,910 in some cases.

Deals like these usually do not last for very long. Retailers often introduce such discounts for a limited period to clear inventory once newer iPhone generations arrive.

Standard iPhone 16 now more affordable

It is not just the larger model seeing a price drop. The base Apple iPhone 16 has also become noticeably cheaper compared to its launch price. The phone was originally introduced in India at about ₹79,900 for the 128GB variant. Now several retailers are selling the device for roughly ₹64,900. When additional bank discounts are applied, the effective price can drop even further to around ₹60,900.For example, ICICI Bank credit card users can receive an instant discount of ₹4,000. Some platforms are also offering around 7.5 percent instant discounts through selected cards such as Yes Bank, HSBC, and Bank of Baroda. In certain cases, IDFC Bank card holders may receive discounts of up to ₹7,500 depending on the purchase amount. There are also providing EMI options and cashback offers.

Key features of the iPhone 16 series

Despite the price cuts, the iPhone 16 series still offers flagship-level specifications. The iPhone 16 Plus comes with a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display with Dynamic Island and runs on Apple’s A18 chipset designed for Apple Intelligence features. It includes a 48MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 12MP front camera, along with Face ID, USB-C charging, and support for up to 25W wireless charging. Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 16 also uses the A18 chip and features a 6.1-inch OLED display with a similar 48MP camera system and a 12MP selfie camera.

These price reductions are partly linked to the arrival of the Apple iPhone 17 lineup. With the new generation already introduced, retailers often lower prices of older models to clear stock and attract buyers who still want premium features at a lower cost.

Interestingly, Apple did not introduce a Plus variant in the latest lineup. Instead, the company added a new Air model this year. Because of this change, the Apple iPhone 16 Plus may remain available only until existing stock lasts.

For buyers who want a large iPhone display without spending close to ₹1 lakh, the current offers may feel like a decent opportunity.
