In the run-up to the annual Google I/O 2026 event, the tech and search giant has unveiled a series of software updates packaged as Gemini Intelligence on Android, aimed at users of its most advanced devices.

Gemini Intelligence is designed to automate tasks such as travel research or shopping across apps, make web browsing in Chrome “smarter” with AI assistance, fill out forms with one tap, create widgets that reflect the users’ hobbies and interests, and create coherent transcriptions of multi-language spoken speech via the Rambler feature.

“You can speak naturally and it will take the important parts, then fit them all together into a concise message. Rambler will clearly show you when you’ve enabled it to help convert your voice to text and audio is only used to transcribe in real-time and is not stored or saved,” shared Google in a blog post.

Gemini Intelligence features are slated to roll out in phases. The latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones will get them in the summer. Android devices including watches, AI-enabled cars, glasses, and laptops will get them later this year.

The tech giant stressed on maintaining privacy and user control over these new AI features, noting that Gemini only acted on command and that it stopped the moment the task was complete. The company said it spent months fine-tuning automation on the Galaxy S26 and the Pixel 10, on popular food and rideshare apps, to ensure seamless interactions.

Google also introduced the new Googlebook, which it said was the first laptop designed from the ground up for Gemini Intelligence. The device is engineered to be compatible with Android devices, and includes new AI-focused features such as the Magic Pointer built with the Google DeepMind team. When users wiggle their cursor and point at something, Gemini will offer contextual suggestions in order to complete actions.

Google said it was working with partners including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo to make the Googlebooks.

“Every Googlebook will be built with premium craftsmanship and materials, coming in a variety of shapes and sizes. You will know it’s a Googlebook by the unique glowbar — a statement that is both functional and beautiful,” said the company.

The new Googlebooks are set to become available in the fall.
