Anthropic has appointed Rahul Patil as its new chief technology officer (CTO). Mr. Patil will succeed Anthropic’s co-founder, Sam McCandlish, in this role, and Mr. McCandlish will become the firm’s chief architect.
“I am grateful to join the humble, brilliant, hardworking and conscientious crew at Anthropic that has ignited much of the imagination and excitement around the world,” Mr. Patil said in a LinkedIn post announcing his transition from Stripe.
At Stripe, Mr. Patil served as the CTO, and prior to his stint at the payments firm, he served as Oracle’s senior vice president handling the cloud service business.
A report by Tech Crunch revealed that Anthropic was making changes to their structure so the product engineering team was in greater proximity to the AI infrastructure and inferencing teams.
Mr. Patil is expected to look at the compute, infrastructure, inference and engineering tasks while Mr. McCandlish will be involved with pre-training and training AI models.
Recently, Anthropic launched the new Claude Sonnet 4.5, designed for coding tasks.
