Nothing’s sub-brand CMF on Friday (December 26, 2025) announced that it has begun the public rollout of Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16 to CMF Phone 1 and CMF Phone 2 Pro users in India.

The Nothing OS 4.0 update will be rolled out over the coming days in phases starting with CMF Phone 1. CMF Phone 2 Pro will follow at the beginning of January, the London-based tech company said.

“The UI has been refined across the system, with updated components, refreshed status bar icons, new lock screen clocks, and a simpler Quick Settings layout,” said CMF.

Nothing OS 4.0 brings extra dark mode, a refined dark mode that claims to deepen blacks, improves contrast, and reduces power usage. It enhances readability across notifications, quick settings, and the app drawer, with support extended to first-party apps like Essential Space.

It can have more widget sizes with new 1×1 and 2×1 widget layouts for Weather, Pedometer, and Screen Time, when customising the home screen. The new update will have an improved pop-up view multitasking.

There will be hidden icons, where apps can now be hidden from the App Drawer. It claims to bring smoother, more tactile animations across touches, swipes, and gestures.

Notifications claims to carry more natural motion and rebound. There will be haptic feedback at volume limits.
