Google Maps will reportedly now be showing traffic alerts from their community-driven navigation app Waze. A report by 9to5Google has stated that the Google Maps app was displaying additional incident prompts like “Police reported ahead” like Waze usually does.

Earlier in July, Google had announced that Google Maps and Waze would both exchange more data while adding details like road closures, ongoing constructions, speed cameras and the presence of police on Google Maps.

While Google Maps does show traffic alerts already, updates from drivers using Waze are a new plus.

Users can also update the incident report on Maps in case they face the same issue.

In 2022, Google had integrated their Maps and Waze teams together but stated that Waze would remain a separate, unique entity.
