Google on Tuesday (October 14, 2025) rolled out AI image editing tool Nano Banana to Search, NotebookLM. The feature will eventually be available in the Photos app. The AI image editor, powered by Gemini 2.5 Flash, was launched in August and instantly became popular.
For Google Search, users need to open Lens and take a photo or use one from their gallery. A ‘Create’ option will appear at the bottom with a banana icon that they can click on and then enter a prompt of what they want the edited image to be like.
Separately, users can also access the editor via Google Lens.
Meanwhile, on NotebookLM, users will find different video styles to choose from like watercolour and anime and then generate illustrations based on the source image. The default style will remain as ‘Classic.’
There’s also a new format called ‘Brief’ in addition to ‘Explainer,’ for users to add prompts to edit the image further.
Towards the end of July, NotebookLM introduced updates like Video Overviews and upgrades like generating mind maps and study guides.
Google hasn’t specified when Nano Banana will be brought into Photos.
