Netflix will live stream the splash landing of the historic Artemis II mission, as it returns to Earth on Friday night. Following its unprecedented flight around the dark side of the moon, the crew of the Orion spacecraft are just hours from a return, with a Pacific Ocean splashdown planned just off the coast of San Diego, California.
Netflix announced on Thursday it would be picking up the live stream for the event, which is sure to attract millions of viewers from around the world. The live broadcast begins at 6:30 p.m. EDT / 3:30 p.m. PDT, which is 9:30pm UK time. The landing is expected to happen just after 8:00pm/5:00pm/11pm.
“During the live broadcast on Netflix … viewers around the globe will hear from the Artemis II recovery team, including the crew surgeon, the USS John P. Murtha captain, and a US Navy diver, among others. They’re tasked with supporting the recovery ahead of the crew’s anticipated return,” Netflix says.
If you’re looking to catch up on events before the triumphant homecoming, then you can check the NASA+ Live programming on Netflix. It has coverage of the Artemis II lunary fly-by.
The stream lasts for a whopping ten hours, but includes the observations from Commander Reid Wiseman, pilot Victor Glover, mission specialist Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency (CSA) mission specialist Jeremy Hansen, as they travel father from Earth than any member of the human race ever has.
Here’s Netflix’s explanation of how to tune in later tonight:

You’ll find live NASA+ feeds in the Netflix interface alongside your favorite series, with programming that includes rocket launches, mission coverage, real-time ISS views, and key moments from Artemis II — including the lunar flyby.

Of course, if you don’t have a Netflix subscription, you can tune in to the official broadcast via NASA’s YouTube channel (embedded below). However, Netflix might be the path of least resistance for many watching on their smart TV.
