Samir Bodas, cofounder, and former CEO of enterprise software firm Icertis, has passed away after battling with cancer, the company said on Thursday.

Bodas cofounded the SoftBank-backed Icertis in 2009 with Monish Darda and helped build it into a global player in contract intelligence.

After serving as the CEO of Icertis for more than 15 years, Bodas had transitioned to the role of executive chairman in 2025.

“Samir had a rare ability to inspire others with his vibrant spirit and to lead with undeniable conviction,” said Darda, who is also the CTO of Icertis. “He challenged all of us to think bigger, act with integrity, and to create a consequential and enduring company. The company we are today is a testament to his vision, and his lasting influence will never be forgotten.”

Bodas was born in Pune and moved to the US in 1982 to pursue an undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin.

He began his career as a software programmer at National Instruments. After graduating from Wharton Business School, he joined Microsoft in 1992 where he worked across various functions including sales and marketing.
