Design
The iQOO 15R follows a clean and modern design language. The phone features a slim profile despite packing a large battery, and the rear panel has a polished finish that gives it a premium feel. The design is very much in line with the iQOO 1,5 and the material also feels of the same quality. However, the iQOO 15 with its bolder branding and a significant camera module makes it easier to establish which is the more affordable variant.

The camera module is neatly integrated into the back panel and doesn’t look overly bulky. The flat frame also improves grip and makes the phone comfortable to hold during long gaming sessions. Overall, the design is simple but premium enough to match other phones in this price range.Display
The iQOO 15R sports a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel is sharp, vibrant, and smooth in everyday usage. Scrolling through apps feels fluid, and the high refresh rate makes gaming and UI navigation noticeably smoother. The display also gets bright enough for outdoor use and supports HDR content for streaming. The colors, while not as accurate as the iQOO 15’s Samsung 1.5K display, are decent, and you will enjoy watching content on the device.
There is also a 144Hz max refresh rate, which is mainly useful in supported games; the display still delivers an excellent viewing experience overall. The display is paired with a dual speaker set-up, which is fairly loud for the size of the device. You also get an indisplay finger print sensor, which isn’t an ultrasonic unit. However, it is snappy to unlock the device. For faster unlocks, you can also use the face unlock feature, which works on the optical dependency of the camera.
Software & Performance
Performance is one of the biggest highlights of the iQOO 15R. The phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, paired with fast RAM and storage. In everyday use, the device feels extremely responsive. Apps launch quickly, multitasking is smooth, and heavy tasks are handled without noticeable slowdowns. Gaming performance is also impressive. Popular titles like BGMI and Call of Duty run smoothly with high frame rates. However, during long gaming sessions, the phone can warm up slightly and show some throttling under sustained heavy load.

While the device is being pitched as a wholesome mobile computing unit, I still believe the strength indeed is gaming. Both the hardware and software choices project the same. We do recommend, however, going for a higher storage variant, especially if you are buying it to play games. The file size for games is now getting heavier; combined with system files, you are looking at a hefty debit on your storage. The phone runs OriginOS based on Android, which offers several customization options and AI-based features. iQOO has also promised multiple Android updates and long-term security support. User’s favorite features like AI eraser and circle to search work without any hiccups, which is always welcome.
Camera
The iQOO 15R comes with a 50MP primary camera and an 8MP ultrawide sensor, along with a 32MP front camera. The main camera captures sharp images with good detail in daylight conditions. Colors tend to be slightly contrast-heavy, but the results still look pleasing for social media. Low-light performance is decent thanks to software processing, though it’s not the best in this segment. The ultrawide camera is useful for wider shots but doesn’t match the detail level of the primary sensor. Selfies from the front camera are sharp and good enough for video calls and social media.
Verdict
The iQOO 15R is a strong performer in the upper mid-range smartphone segment. It delivers excellent performance, a smooth display, and outstanding battery life, making it a great option for gamers and power users. While the camera setup isn’t the most versatile and thermal performance could be better during extended gaming, the overall package is still very competitive. If performance and battery life are your top priorities, the iQOO 15R is definitely worth considering. However, if you can back out on the performance and want something more quirky, you can check out the Nothing Phone (4a).
