At just around 9mm thin, the W6 is once again designed to disappear into the wall. LG says the reduction comes from a complete internal redesign and aggressive miniaturisation of components, while a revised wall mount allows the panel to sit flush edge-to-edge. In practice, it looks more like a design surface than a conventional TV—something LG has clearly leaned into with this generation.
The biggest functional change, however, is what’s missing from the screen itself. All physical connections have been moved to LG’s Zero Connect Box, which can sit up to 10 metres away. Video and audio are transmitted wirelessly, removing the need for cables running down the wall. LG claims the signal remains visually lossless at 4K, reinforcing the idea that thin design doesn’t have to come at the cost of performance.
A brighter take on OLED
Under the hood, the W6 introduces LG’s new Hyper Radiant Color Technology, which the company says improves brightness, colour volume, and black levels while also reducing reflections. The panel is rated to hit up to 3.9 times the brightness of conventional OLED TVs, helped by Brightness Booster Ultra.
Reflection handling is another area LG is clearly targeting. The screen has been engineered for extremely low reflectance and has received an Intertek “Reflection Free with Premium” certification—an important detail for living rooms with lots of ambient light, where OLEDs have traditionally struggled.
Driving all of this is the new Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen3. LG says its neural processing unit is significantly more powerful than before, enabling a Dual AI Engine that handles noise reduction and texture preservation in parallel. The idea here is to avoid the overly processed look that can creep in with aggressive AI upscaling.
TVs as part of the room
LG continues to blur the line between display and décor with its Gallery+ platform. When not in use as a TV, the W6 can cycle through artwork, photography, cinematic visuals, or even AI-generated images, paired with ambient music. It’s a continuation of LG’s push to make large TVs feel less intrusive in carefully designed living spaces.
Built for gaming, tuned for AI
Like the rest of LG’s 2026 OLED evo lineup, the Wallpaper TV supports up to 4K at 165Hz, along with NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility, AMD FreeSync Premium, and a 0.1ms response time. These specs keep LG firmly positioned as one of the go-to brands for high-end console and PC gaming.
On the software side, LG is doubling down on AI-driven personalisation through webOS. Voice ID allows the TV to recognise who’s speaking and automatically switch profiles, while integrations with Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot enable more conversational queries. Features like “In This Scene” add contextual information about what’s playing, and LG says the entire system is protected by LG Shield, its new security framework that picked up a CES Innovation Award.
A familiar idea, refined for 2026
Rather than reinventing the concept, LG’s 2026 Wallpaper TV feels like a careful refinement of an idea it introduced years ago—now supported by wireless tech and panel improvements that finally make the form factor feel practical rather than experimental.
The OLED evo W6 and the broader 2026 OLED lineup are on display at LG’s CES booth in Las Vegas from January 6–9. Whether the Wallpaper TV becomes mainstream again remains to be seen, but as a showcase of where premium TVs are heading, it’s one of LG’s more confident statements at CES this year.
