WhatsApp on Thursday (March 26, 2026) announced the immediate rollout of new features to streamline chats, save storage space, transfer data between iOS and Android ecosystems, as well as use AI to get help with messages and content.

Users of Meta’s WhatsApp messaging service will now be able to have two accounts logged in at the same time on iOS, similar to Android users. Meanwhile, WhatsApp’s chat transfer feature will support users who want to move their chats from iOS to Android.

In order to save space, WhatsApp is releasing a feature to help users delete large files within the chat via a ‘Manage Storage’ option. Users can also preserve their chat history by choosing to clear just media files.

New stickers are also being rolled out.

Significant updates involving Meta AI include ‘Writing Help,’ so users can get a private, suggested draft for their message response.

“Writing Help is built on top of Private Processing technology, which allows you to leverage Meta AI to generate a response without Meta or WhatsApp ever reading your message or the suggested re-writes,” stated a WhatsApp blog post.

Moreover, Meta AI in WhatsApp will let users touch up photos directly in their chat. They can now remove photo elements, add new backgrounds, or apply artistic styles before sending the content, said Meta in its blog post, but added that Meta AI features may not be available to all users.

Meta noted that the features were presently rolling out and would be available to everyone soon.
