Microsoft is preparing for another round of job cuts in its gaming division Xbox, per a report by The Verge, which noted that the layoffs were part of the company’s plan to restructure ahead of the next generation console launch. This round of layoffs may also affect Microsoft’s sales team members.

This comes after the software maker cut 6,000 jobs (3% of the company’s work force).

A couple of weeks earlier, it laid off over 300 workers.

Workers in the gaming industry in general are facing lay offs. For instance, last year, thousands were laid off at PlayStation Studios, and EA — all of them cited downsizing team size as the reason.

At Microsoft, aside from firing around 1,900 Activision Blizzard and Xbox employees, the company also shut down game studios Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin.
