The new devices bring telephoto cameras, AMOLED displays with high refresh rates, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7-series processors to the company’s mid-tier lineup. The smartphones also run Nothing OS, the company’s custom Android interface, with updated AI features and personalization tools.
Design and build
The Phone (4a) series continues the company’s transparent design language.
The Phone (4a) Pro features a precision metal unibody build and measures 7.95 mm in thickness, making it the slimmest device from Nothing so far. It also carries IP65 protection against dust and water. The device is offered in silver, black, and pink colour options.
The Phone (4a) retains the transparent back panel with visible internal components and introduces a redesigned Glyph Bar lighting interface. It comes with IP64 protection and is available in black, white, blue and pink.
Cameras
Photography remains a major focus for the new lineup.
The Phone (4a) Pro includes a Sony LYT700C 50-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilisation, paired with a 50MP telephoto camera offering 3.5x optical zoom and up to 140x digital zoom. It also includes an ultra-wide camera and a 32MP front camera.
The Phone (4a) features a 50MP main camera and a 50MP telephoto sensor, along with an ultra-wide lens and a 32MP selfie camera. Both devices support the company’s TrueLens Engine 4 computational photography system and Ultra XDR imaging developed with Google.
Glyph interface
Nothing has also updated its signature lighting system.
The Phone (4a) introduces a redesigned Glyph Bar with 63 mini LEDs that provide notification indicators and visual cues for calls, charging and timers.
The Phone (4a) Pro features a Glyph Matrix made up of 137 mini LEDs that cover a larger area and deliver brighter notification lighting compared with previous models.
Software and AI features
Both smartphones run Nothing OS 4.1, based on Android 16.
The update brings redesigned icons, a refreshed lock screen and expanded widgets. It also includes AI tools such as Essential Search and Essential Memory, designed to help users access information across apps and personalise results based on usage patterns.
Nothing said the devices will receive three years of Android updates and six years of security patches.
Display
The Phone (4a) Pro features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel reaches a peak brightness of 5,000 nits in HDR content.
The Phone (4a) comes with a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, with peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits in HDR mode.
Both displays are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
Performance and battery
The Phone (4a) Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, while the Phone (4a) runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4.
Both devices support gaming at high refresh rates, including 120Hz gameplay for BGMI and 90Hz for PUBG.
The smartphones are equipped with a 5400mAh battery and support 50W fast charging, which the company says can charge the device to 60% in around 30 minutes.
Sustainability
Nothing said the Phone (4a) series also focuses on sustainability. The devices incorporate recycled materials including aluminium, plastics, steel and tin, and the packaging is over 99% plastic-free.
