Samsung has announced the Galaxy Z Flip7, its latest addition to the foldable lineup. The device features a redesigned, edge-to-edge FlexWindow on the cover screen, expanding its functionality while maintaining a compact, pocket-friendly form.

The Flip7 incorporates Samsung’s Galaxy AI features, including voice-enabled tools and context-aware assistance, aimed at enhancing everyday interactions. It also brings upgrades to the camera system—particularly for selfies alongside refinements to its foldable design. While it retains the familiar clamshell shape, the new model focuses on more seamless multitasking and day-to-day usability, driven by both software and hardware improvements.

Upgraded Cover Display Dubbed ‘Flex Window’

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip7 introduces the largest FlexWindow yet in the series—a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover screen that now stretches edge to edge, expanding what can be done without opening the device. From replying to messages and checking notifications to framing selfies, the updated FlexWindow is designed for quicker, more functional interactions on the go.

The display also sees improvements in brightness and responsiveness. With a peak brightness of 2,600 nits and a 120Hz refresh rate—matched on both the cover and main screens—users can expect smooth visuals and better visibility outdoors. Samsung has also added Vision Booster to the FlexWindow, further enhancing readability in bright environments.

Inside, the main display is a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel, continuing the Flip’s focus on delivering a compact form without compromising on screen quality.

Thinner Than Before

The Galaxy Z Flip7 continues Samsung’s push toward making foldables more pocketable and practical. Weighing 188 grams and measuring just 13.7mm when folded, it’s the thinnest Galaxy Z Flip to date designed for easy portability without compromising on performance.Durability remains a key focus. Both the cover and back panels are reinforced with Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus® 2, offering added protection against daily wear and the occasional drop. While the device maintains its compact form, Samsung has aimed to make it more resilient for real-world use, whether it’s being used one-handed during a commute or tossed into a small bag.Samsung has made structural updates to the Galaxy Z Flip7, starting with a redesigned Armor FlexHinge that’s thinner than its predecessor. The new hinge incorporates a restructured mechanism and high-strength materials, aiming to deliver smoother folding and increased durability over time.

Complementing the hinge is a reinforced Armor Aluminum frame, designed to offer added protection against daily wear and impact. Together, these changes reflect Samsung’s continued effort to improve the durability of its foldables without adding extra bulk.

Bigger Battery & Performance Upgrades

Despite its slimmer profile, the Galaxy Z Flip7 now houses the largest battery and cover display seen in the series so far. The new 4,300mAh battery supports up to 31 hours of video playback on a single charge, extending daily use without needing to top up frequently—whether that’s for media streaming, photo editing, or constant app usage on the go.

The device is powered by a 3nm processor customized for Galaxy, offering performance improvements across the CPU, GPU, and NPU compared to the previous generation. These upgrades are designed to handle more intensive tasks, including on-device AI features.

For the first time on a Flip device, Samsung DeX is now supported—allowing users to connect the phone to a monitor or display and access a desktop-style interface. This addition positions the Z Flip7 as more than just a compact foldable, giving it expanded potential as a portable productivity tool.

AI In A pocket, According to Samsung

With the Galaxy Z Flip7, Samsung is broadening what users can do directly from the cover display. Running One UI 8 and Android 16 out of the box, the device supports multimodal AI features that take full advantage of its foldable form. Many day-to-day tasks—searching, setting reminders, checking schedules—can now be performed without opening the phone, offering a more streamlined, one-handed experience.

The updated FlexWindow also introduces deeper personalization, from curated wallpaper suggestions to emoji and widget customization, reflecting user preferences and routines. These changes position the cover display not just as a shortcut panel, but as a functional and adaptive extension of the main device.

AI tools like Gemini Live are now accessible from the FlexWindow as well. This allows users to issue voice commands to retrieve travel information, manage reminders, or find local recommendations—all without unlocking the phone. Relevant details, such as flight times or restaurant options, can be pulled from apps like Samsung Wallet and saved to Samsung Notes, giving users a centralized place to manage plans. It’s a move toward making the Flip more context-aware and capable, even when closed.

Samsung expands the FlexWindow’s capabilities on the Galaxy Z Flip7 with new AI-driven tools and live widgets. With camera sharing on Gemini Live, users can point the camera at outfits or items and get real-time suggestions—like whether an outfit suits the weather at a travel destination.

The Now Bar shows live app activity, podcast progress, ride ETAs, scores, and more—now with broader third-party support. Now Brief delivers personalized daily updates, including traffic, calendar events, fitness data, and media recommendations synced with Samsung Health and Galaxy Watch.

The clock on the cover screen now adapts to the user’s wallpaper, wrapping around faces or objects to stay readable without disrupting the image.

Camera Upgrades

The Galaxy Z Flip7 brings flagship-level photography to the foldable form, featuring a 50MP wide and 12MP ultra-wide dual rear camera system. Whether capturing landscapes, low-light portraits, or hands-free selfies from the cover screen, the phone leverages Samsung’s ProVisual Engine to automatically optimize lighting, detail, and clarity—no manual tweaking required.

New tools enhance the selfie experience directly from the FlexWindow. Real-Time Filters and a new Zoom Slider make it easier to frame and preview shots before capturing, while Dual Preview lets both the photographer and subject view the image live on the cover screen.

Night shots benefit from Enhanced Nightography, which reduces noise and improves lighting in dark settings, while 10-bit HDR brings deeper contrast and color to videos. For creative expression, Portrait Studio in Photo Assist offers playful and polished effects—from fisheye looks to stylized filters—making everyday moments more dynamic.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE

There is also a new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, for which we have limited information. Samsung aims to make its foldable lineup more accessible with the introduction of the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. The more affordable FE starts at $899, with a design which matches last years Z Flip6.

Compact when folded and expansive when open, the device features a 6.7-inch main display and a 50MP FlexCam for hands-free selfies and video in Flex Mode—allowing users to capture content without even unfolding the phone.

The cover screen also supports Now Brief, surfacing useful updates like weather, schedules, and commute alerts in a layout optimized for quick glances, adding everyday utility to the more affordable foldable.
