Food delivery platform Swiggy is now letting users order products with the help of agentic AI workflows. This means users on ChatGPT, Claude, and Google’s Gemini can place orders just by typing what they want into these AI chatbots. Underpinning this connection is the the open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP) that lets AI chatbots work with external services and platforms.

The integration covers Swiggy Food, Dineout, and Instamart, apart from letting users build carts, apply coupons, and track their deliveries directly through conversational AI tools. It will also enable users to get product recommendations, search for restaurants, compare options, add items to a cart, make use of coupons, reservations, and track deliveries.

Swiggy’s Instamart is said to be the first quick-commerce platform globally to adopt MCP.

To start ordering through the chatbots, users must connect the service with Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, or other AI chatbots through a custom connector service or app, and provide the desired URL for integration.

“Conversational commerce” lets users “to simply express what they want, when they want it, whether it is to book a table at their favourite restaurant or order drinks and snacks for a match-viewing party,” said Madhusudhan Rao, Chief Technology Officer, Swiggy. “By bringing MCP to quick commerce, food delivery, and dining out, we’re removing friction from daily decisions and enabling a level of ease, personalisation, and joy that makes on-demand convenience feel effortless.”
