Investors continued to pull out of the online gaming industry. This was a result of the announcement made by Empire Online. According to Empire Online its growth in the online mango live sector had plateaued during the third quarter. Over 129 million shares in PartyGaming were traded on. The group slumped down by 11 percent. The value of the company came down to less than 3 billion pounds. This happened for the first time, since it was floated this summer. Empire Online lost over a quarter of its value, or 62p, to 121p whereas Sportingbet came down 20.5p to 286p.

But the rest of the market started the week in a rather upbeat mood. The FTSE 100 closed up 12.2 points at 5,374.5 as investors were attracted back into the market after concerns about US inflation and aggressive interest rate rises sparked steep falls last week.
