Those using the Apple iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus running older versions of iOS could lose WhatsApp support in May 2025, reported WaBetaInfo.

This restriction applies to users with devices running iOS versions older than 15.1.

Though on its website WhatsApp says that it supports phones with iOS 12 and later, as well as iPhones that are capable of receiving calls or SMS messages, this could change as WaBetaInfo reported that WhatsApp might need users to have iOS 15.1 or later versions to support the app’s functioning.

On its official page, WhatsApp has notified iOS users that they should use the latest available version of the operating system in order to access the messaging service.

Apart from this, WhatsApp warned iOS device owners not to use jailbroken or unlocked devices with modified versions of the iPhone operating system.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp works on Android phones with Android 5.0 and newer versions, as well as those Android phones that can receive SMS messages or calls.
